DIY Jelly Bar for Summer
The growing seasons of spring, summer and fall are all perfect jam-making seasons. From florals in the spring, to berries in the summer to the grand finale of grapes dripping from the vines and the bushels of apples harvested in fall, there are plenty of delicious options for making your own sweet condiments. Thanks to sugar, homemade jellies and jams are less likely to have issues with various bacterias/botulism than typical canned vegetables (beans, potatoes, corn, etc.). This makes jam the PERFECT place to start your experimentation with canning!
In my book, Crafting with Nature, I give a recipe for a classic grape jelly, along with a fun "red-white and blue" berry jelly that you might want to try. THIS is my favorite simple strawberry jam recipe and HERE is one of my favorite Nest posts ever; How to make Lilac and Redbud Jelly.

Even more fun than making delicious caned jellies?
Creating a JELLY BAR!
See those biscuits?
They are simply grands, cut into triangular fourths with scissors or a knife and are the perfect
"tester-size" bun for trying out a whole lineup of yummy jams and jellies.
Little hands won't be able to resist :)
You might go a little further and make a PB&J bar or break out the peacocks for a grand picnic party
or perhaps just let the kids go a little wild on a summer afternoon dipping and munching!
