Peninsula de San Juan, Palmas del Mar, Humacao, Puerto Rico

When we were searching for a rental place in Palmas del Mar (Humacao, Puerto Rico), it was very hard to get clear definitions of the communities and the various community amenities. I am hoping to help other folks searching with some on-site information, so if you are a regular reader and looking for DIY and garden ideas, feel free to skip right over these posts. If you are interested in houses and architecture, there are some beauties here in Palmas though, so you might want to peek just for the eye candy.

Waterfront Properties at Palmas del Mar

Today, we start with Peninsula de San Juan, a small community of 39 homes, mostly 3-4 story rowhomes directly on the water.  I believe all of them come with at least 1 boat slip which connects directly to the bay, then into the ocean.  This is a plus if you need a boat, but it seems that the bugs are a bit more prevalent down here by the water. Peninsula de San Jaun is gated and has a community pool directly inside the guard gate.  Our rental is literally right across the street and the pool is usually empty, particularly during the day on weekdays.

The pool has two sets of shallow steps which have worked out perfect for us with the kids.

The place we are staying is the blue one:

The community is laid out with a circlular roundabout in the middle and 4 short streets off each side.  

One leads to the guardhouse/gate and the other 3 are lined with homes backing up to boat slips.

If you look out across the water, the homes are a bit more European-looking 

as opposed to the Caribbean style of Peninsula de San Juan.  I really love this view:

The homes over there are part of the "Isla de San Miguel" community and they range from luxurious row homes to slightly more beaten up versions that cost less (but not by much because you still get a boat slip!)
