Let's start with this lawn cart, shall we?
I originally picked this cart as the perfect little cart for transporting chicken feed to and from a covered garage, but the chicks quickly made a temporary home in this little wheeled cart. It was the perfect vehicle to house them in while I cleaned out the coop.
The cleaning tools start and finish with that excellent fork below:
TEN tines, y'all!
It makes all the difference in the world removing that compacted layer of grasses and bedding.
See how the tines slide into the middle of the layer and pick it up as one big bunch?

This scoop and slide process, along with the "freeness" of ornamental grass cuttings makes it my first choice for bedding. To get the grasses out from other perennials, this strong and SUPER TOUGH Thatch rake does the job. When I have to buy bedding, pine chips do just fine. For that kind of lighter bedding full of you know what, the manure scoop is an absolute must have for chicken keeping.
The worst chore in chicken keeping is the poop "scraping". Poop can sometimes harden onto the floor of the coop and a strong, sharp scraper is essential to making quick work of that poop. You DO NOT want to waste time with inadequate tools standing in a coop full of poop. You really don't.

I started the post by introducing you to the lawn cart (complete with beverage holders!), but we must take a few minutes to talk about the wonder of an actual garden cart. Compared to a one-wheeled wheelbarrow, it is a backsaver to any chicken keeper or gardener. The large, curved handles and those massive, strong wheels along with that deep tub allow for double-triple wheelbarrow loads that are moved with ease. Bedding is now a one trip chore instead of three.
...and when you are finished working, everything (including the lawn cart) fits right inside the cart and gets wheeled into the garage.
