Dinosaur Ice Eggs

Summer is starting to wind down a bit, with camp ending and VBS almost over, so I need to get my act together and find more kid crafts!  Anybody have some good ideas???

This past week we had "dinosaur" week which consisted of walking around like dinosaurs, prancing play dinosaurs through play dough and lots of digging in the sandbox.  of course, there was one little activity that topped all the rest and that would be the infamous dinosaur ICE EGGS!

They are quite simple to make, and could be used in a variety of themed games/crafts.  All you do is shove a little plastic toy into a balloon.  Fill that puppy with water and toss it in the freezer.  That's it!  No need to use actual water balloons -- any old balloon will do!

Once the ice has frozen, simply peel the balloon away from the ice and your kids will be stunned and amazed by the dinosaurs encase in ice -- it's the simple things!

Once your eggs are out of the casing, we threw them into the pool and water table to watch them dissolves, but throwing them off the porch and watching them shatter was anther option we were tossing around (oh my goodness -- that pun was intended -sorry!)

In any case, if you have a few balloons hanging around, try this craft for a super simple crowd pleaser!

...and shoot me some good craft ideas -- we're dying over here these last few weeks before school!!
