Grace has some great tips for updating your space on a budget. Check out her words below and at her blog Blessed Elements!
The cottage had never had much attention until I moved in and our finances were not such that I could just buy a new counter top unless I wanted to go into debt, which I did not. I painted it with kilz and granite spray paint. I then took clear poly urethane and sealed it. It was a new look and has lasted up to 5 years now and still looks great!
My husband is a bull in the China shop type of person. He was constantly bringing in ladders, breaking the globes on my ceiling fan and I was stuck sweeping up my glass globes from the floor. It was getting expensive so I took cotton crochet thread, wrapped it around balloons and starched it. I crocheted a band for them but anyone could just braid the stuff or buy seam binding and sew it on.
I am totally seeing these globes instead of paper lanterns all gathered in a bunch over a bed or hanging outdoors for a picnic, or any multitudes of uses...
